Südstadtkids is a socially oriented institution in Heilbronn which offers all children and young people from the age of six a wide range of activities such as leisure activities, homework supervision, music lessons and targeted career guidance opportunities. The aim is to integrate children and young people into school, work and social affairs and to teach them Christian values and principles. The foundation has been supporting Südstadtkids since 2010.
In the southern Indian district of Tirunvannamalai, our partner organisation WARM works with girls who have dropped out of school and are working instead. Thanks to the support of the Christian und Dorothee Bürkert Stiftung, the girls receive one year of practical training in tailoring or embroidery or can continue their education at informal learning centres while working. As such, they can complete their primary schooling and obtain a leaving certificate.
The Christian und Dorothee Bürkert Stiftung promotes students based on their special skills and social commitment.
The Deutschlandstipendium Scholarships are funded in cooperation with KIT Karlsruhe, the Universities of Applied Sciences in Karlsruhe, Heilbronn and Hannover, the Technical Universities of Munich, Augsburg, Dresden and Ilmenau as well as the University of Stuttgart.
Welcome and Tandem Scholarships
The Christian und Dorothee Bürkert Stiftung funds a scholarship programme for refugee students and first generation students in cooperation with the German University Foundation (“Deutsche Universitätsstiftung”). The scholarship holders are supported by mentoring, coaching and various workshops to ensure best integration in German universities and successful graduation.
In cooperation with Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences, the foundation supports student exchanges with the University of North Carolina in Charlotte. The funding gives students from both Germany and the USA the opportunity to gain international experience and to continue their education across national borders.
The Bürkert University Prize for Dissertations recognises special achievements that solve a scientific problem and thus push the boundaries of knowledge. Every year, three doctorates and the most outstanding theses from the respective specialist departments are awarded prizes. In this way, the foundation is supporting talented young people who excel in terms of their proficiency and commitment.
Young VIP Ticket Schwäbisch Hall
By sponsoring the Young VIP Ticket, the foundation enables families with children and young people to take part in cultural events in Schwäbisch Hall. Tickets for all events are offered at a uniform price – for all seats – to young people in training or education up to the age of 25 thanks to the foundation’s commitment.
“Heartbeat” Event
More than 200 young people come together at the event organised by the Evangelischen Jugendwerk (Evangelical Youth Foundation) to experience Christian fellowship, including singing, working and creating together in a wide variety of workshops. For the foundation, the community that young people experience in this project is paramount.
